LAUNCH NIGHT! @ THE PHOENIX
REPORT
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
2ND-16TH APRIL, 2009
THE JAM FACTORY
REPORT
StillPoint had it’s official launch night on Weds 4th March at The Phoenix Cinema in Jericho, Oxford. Ian and Matt presented the vision for a centre for the practice of Christian spirituality and were joined by special guests John Pritchard - the Bishop of Oxford - and Jamie Catto - one half of the innovative film and music makers 1GiantLeap.
About 120 people turned up to hear more about what Stillpoint is all about. We discussed the question of why the Christian tradition seems an unlikely place to discover spiritual depth for many people in today’s world and it was good to hear Jamie and John’s views on this. We spoke of Stillpoint’s desire to re-present spiritual wisdom from within the Christian tradition and make it accessible to today’s spiritual traveller.
We also saw three chapters from 1GiantLeap’s stunning film, ‘What About Me?’ which addresses issues such as the bombardment we are faced with in our culture, the need to awaken, and what to do with the pain that we all carry.
There are a set of photos of the night available here.
During passiontide and holy week 2009 StillPoint presented the work of 14 local artists in a reimagining of the traditional Stations of the Cross. The event took place in The Jam Factory arts cafe in central Oxford.
Ian and Matt went on BBC Radio Oxford to talk about the event and there was also a piece in the local paper.
The staff at The Jam Factory told us that lots of people came to see the show over the two weeks and also people who went to The Jam Factory for coffee, lunch or dinner also showed a lot of interest in the pieces.

Our Stations of the Cross exhibition returns for a second year - this time for an extended run (now almost a month). Gathering together the work of 14 local artists the exhibition is a contemporary reimagining of the traditional Stations of the Cross.
We hope it will be a meditative seeing and deeper entering into the easter mysteries.
If you would like to come to the opening night drinks reception on Friday March 26th please e mail us to say you’re coming.
